The tour continues...

We continued the use of our London Pass to the next day. We went to 'British at war Experience' built by Winston Churchill I think. It is an exiciting musuem with drama demostrating life during war. With sound and light effect, it brings us back to London during World War. HMS Belfast is just across the road, so of cos we went there as well. HMS Belfast is the only surviving vessel since world war 2.

We didnt take a lot of pictures but it was very interesting to be able to see what its like in the ship. We were shown the cabin, kitchen, clinic, library, church etc. More or less we can imagine life in the ship.

Next, is the Tower Bridge.

Nothing much to see actually. It is all about enjoying the view from the upper level of the Bridge. Beside the scenery, we can tour around the engine room as well.

The last agenda of the day is the Tower of London.

It was used as royal palace and prison over 900 years ago. After this trip, I actually showed interest in English history. I started to look for information about King Henry VIII and actually bought the DVD 'The Other Boleyn Girl' staring Natalie Portman, Eric Bana and Scarlett Johansson. I like I like.

After more than 3 hours studying history of Tower of London, both L and I got so tired we decided to make full use of our London Pass. We took the City Cruise for a quick tour by the thames.

It was a great way to finish the day with a relaxing cruise enjoying the beautiful scenery and breezy fresh air.

The next day, we used the London Pass to travel with boat by the canal at Little Venice in Warwick Avenue.

It was amazing to be able to enjoy fresh air by the canal with so many greens in Central of London. The canal leads us to Camden Town.

Meanwhile in Camden Town, u get a total different view.

From Camden Town, we went straight to the St Paul Cathedral.

It is amazing in there but we were not allowed to take pictures. We took more than 300 steps (I think) to be at the Golden Gallery for a breathtaking view.

After St Paul Cathedral, go across the street.....

....and that's London Millennium Footbridge.

From there, we went to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

After, we went to Benjamin Franklin House near Charing Cross and we found it to be a bit boring.

Finally, thats the end. And what's better than to end the day with a nice and cheap dinner in Chinatown.

L and I decided to spend the rest of our holiday in London instead of going somewhere further (but still in UK). We wanted to make sure that we are in London when our passports are returned to us (BTW, I received my passport yesterday with my PR application approved...thats gonna be in another post)

I managed to get a very good deal from Londonpass.com where I bought a 3-day pass for less than £60. With this pass, we get free entry to some of London most popular attrcations for 3 days. After calculation, I managed to save about £20 in 3 days using this pass rather than buying tickets separately. It saves money and hassle.

London Zoo is one of the attractions included in the pass. So, off we go to London Zoo.....with sun lotion this time. It was yet another lovely, hot sunny day

We spent about 4 hours there. Did we enjoy the trip? Well, not really. It was a dissapoinment. London Zoo is not much different from our own Taiping Zoo, really.

After London Zoo, feeling very hungry, we had pizza for lunch.

Next, we took tube to Kensington Garden Palace in Kensington. It is included in the Pass as well. No pictures here I dont know why. At the end of the day, only we realised we didnt take any photos...ooppssie. Well, there was nothing very special, anyway.

On my visit to Windsor I was not bothered to apply sun lotion because I never thought the temperature gonna shoot up to 30 degrees. But I was wrong. It was a damn hot day. Without any protection, this is what I got.

A day in Windsor

L and I started our summer holiday 2 weeks ago. This year, we couldn't go anywhere outside UK because I submitted our passports to Home Office for PR application. So, we got stucked in UK This year. Well, there are plenty to do. We managed to visit Windsor and covered almost all of London most popular attractions in 2 weeks.

First visit was Windsor Legoland. Yaya, I know it is childish but who cares. I managed to get tickets at half price from lastminute.com. Well, it was a last minute booking and I bought the tickets on the final day of the offer.

Ok, let's go now. We woke up very early in the morning and got to Paddington Station at 9am. We took the train to Windsor and used the shuttle bus from Windsor town center to Legoland. The journey took us about 50 minutes. There were kids everywhere. I think L and I were the only adults without any children in there.

We started our trip with a boat ride. Well, of course the boat is not made of Lego (I think !)

I love summer. I was born and grew up in a hot tropical country, Malaysia. Although I spent more than 20 years staying in a hot and humid country, I still love summer.

This is a long overdue post. Hubby bought fresh crab from the fishmonger few months ago. I can't remember whats the price but when hubby brought it home that morning, I was so freak out. It is very big and still moving. He placed the whole crab in the fridge cos we will cook in the afternoon. It occupied 1 whole shelf in the fridge. I started to image that the crab gonna open the fridge door by itself and escapes.

It may not look very big here, but it is. I should've took the photo with something beside the crab as a comparison. Anyway, the crab is big enough for 2 of us for 1 whole day. Let's have another look at the crab before we kill it.

For lunch, hubby cooked half the crab with 'Kam Heung' sauce. I dont know whats the exact ingredients are, but I think there are lots of ginger and dried prawns. Very aromatic.

Then for dinner, we had the crab with spicy, sweet and sour sauce. I prefer this because mom used to cook this style when I was young.

On that night, we had a very fullfiling dinner. I love crabs....do u?

My first time

I had it done for the first time yesterday morning. I woke up early as the appointment is at 9am. I arrived 10 minutes early and I was lead to a room where someone was already waiting for me. I was asked if I am in a relationship, I said I am married. Fine. I can see a bed was ready in the same room, I took a quick look and make sure the room is locked. I undressed myself, laid now and waited. I felt so nervous wondering how it is gonna feel. Knees up, legs spread and I got even more nervous as it was inserted. Feel some pain and uncomfortable. It lasted for few minutes. Finally, it is over. I dressed myself and the nurse told me the Smear Test is done and result will be sent to my address in 8 weeks. That's it !! My FIRST SMEAR TEST. It was no fun at all ! And I am NOT looking forward to the next one.

Recession in UK ???

I was back to Penang for 3 weeks in March. From there, I realised how bad the economy in Malaysia is now. My friends and I went out for dinner on a Friday night in a restaurant in Gurney Plaza. We were there from 6 till 10pm. It wasn't busy at all. There were only 6 tables altogether for the whole night. On a (supposed to be a busy) Friday night ! We finished our dinner at 10pm and I can see the whole Gurney area wasn't even packed like how it used to be. There was no atmosphere at all. So dissapointed. Even in shopping complexes, it was all dead !

Back in London, I took these pictures in 2007 during Christmas month in the famous shopping Oxford Street. Nice and busy...

And these pictures were snapped early this year 2009, same place. Crowded with shopping people. Hmm...Recession huh?

And I thought recession hit UK worse than in Asia? Guess I was wrong.

A visit to London

Both my parents are retired. With so much time to spare, they would love to visit me in London one day. With cheap flights and hotels in London, I don't see why they can't afford to come here for holiday. Since it will be summer in London soon, this will be the best time for my parents to come. With lovely weather, they can simply hang out at the park or stroll along the Thames River. My parents will need a hotel near to major tourist attractions in London, namely Tower Bridge, London Eye and Buckingham Palace for their conveniences. Moreover, with cheap hotels and so many things to do in London, they can easily stay here up to few months. I've even organised their travel iterniary !

Gosh !! It's been more than 6 mths since I last wrote a post. I've been very very lazy during the winter. Poor blog. It was left unattended for so long. Now I am back. I decided to update my blog every now and then. I'll try. Well, few things happened for the past few mths. I got a new job, I got promoted and with promotion, of cos I got salary increment and lots of shopping, I had a lovely Christmas, I went to HK, I went back to Malaysia, I got some good and bad news and now I am back to London, back to work. I am depressed !!

Paella - step by step

We had some home-cooked seafood paella last Sunday. That's hubby and I all-time favourite food. Well, this is going to be only-photo post because pictures speak a thousand words.

1. All the ingredients

Add water with saffron. Saffron is used just for colouring.

2. Step by step

That's half-cooked medium grain rice.

Add more water to cook the rice and season with salt and pepper.

Put the lid on and wait abt 10-15 minutes for the rice to cook.

3. End result

Ta-dah !!

Yummy !!! Plates licking good with a whole bottle of Pinot Grigio.

Any flavour you want, just name it. I had mango and watermelon flavour. Was it nice? It was nice and refreshing but I still prefer the classic, old boring chocolate and vanilla flavour.

We were back to Penang. It felt so great. His family arranged a grand dinner to welcome us. We had dinner at the top floor of the most expensive restaurant in Penang. With more than 100 guests including my ex-classmates, it was a great night as his father introduced me to everyone. His family love me, of course I am their eldest daughter-in-law. His father is the owner of the biggest telecommunication company in Malaysia and with so many high profile relatives, I will not have problem getting a decent job. His uncle greeted me and asked me to go to the company for an 'interview'. So, I went and as I was in the building, everyone was looking at me and whispered to each other. Of course, there was nothing wrong with me. I was married to the eldest son of their boss. I felt so proud of myself. As I walked in, I felt like I was doing a catwalk as there were so many eyes around me. And then I heard L's voice. It is 8.30 in the morning and L is getting ready to go to work. I am still in bed. It was a great dream. Of course I didnt tell L about the dream. Why? Because the 'he' in the dream is not him. And who is 'he'? He was my friend from college. He is a good looking guy. Although his father doesnt own the biggest company in Malaysia, he owns a small factory in Bayan Lepas. Still, is anak taukeh la. I had a crush on him but that was ages ago. I wonder...what makes him go into my dream? Hmmm....After L've gone to work, I tried to go back to sleep, to continue my dream. But no it never happened.

Lazy Sunday

I remember last time like many years back, Australia has got a strong swimming team. I am not sure about now though. I cant remember if it was Olympics or Commonwealth Games. Maybe Commonwealth Games. So, I asked L. Why Australia's swimming team was strong?

My answer : Because Australia has got a warmer weather compared to European countries and so they swim more often.

L's answer : Because there are sharks everywhere surrounding Australia. So, the people there need to be a good swimmer.

One thing I love abt UK is to experience different season every few months. But still, I love summer the best. Unlike Malaysia, it is not too hot and not humid here. It is always breezy which is lovely. It is almost the end of summer now. I took this photo of my back garden yesterday.

The photo is senget. I took the photo from my room upstairs. I actually had to put my hands over the window to take a nice, straight photos but my hands are too short so end up the photo is abit cacat. You can see a small part of the window frame in the photo as well.

I prepared some western style lunch again yesterday. This time, I coated some flour on chicken legs and fried them with chips as well. After, I served them with black pepper sauce.

And why black pepper sauce again? Because I love them ! Of course no. Because that's the only sauce i had in my fridge at the moment. I wanted to make some sweet and sour sauce but I didnt even have tomato ketchup in my fridge. Duh !!

I miss my family in Penang all the time, especially during Chinese New Year. Every year, all family members will gather and one of the most important event is to play poker. I joined them as well, eventhough most of the times I was confuse with the rules of playing. I am an idiot when it comes to poker. Maybe I should sign up with this website and learn Poker Professor Strategy. By the time I am back to Penang in few years time, I bet my family is going to be so shock with my new found skill.

Ive changed job again. I went to a new work place more than a month ago. Well, this new place is not as posh as my last job. There are cheap customers everywhere. Cheap customers that asked for tap water, left no tips, complained and asked for free food. Cheap cheap cheap !! I dont get to see celebrity anymore. No footballers, no royals, no celebrities. But still, I get better pay and everything is much more organised here than my previous job. But of course, no matter where you go, you still get those 1 or 2 rude, arrogant collegues. Over here, it is Kelly who is hated by everyone. I hate her !! Oh how I wish she gets a better job somewhere else and get the hell out of here !!

5 hours in a casino

A friend of hubby goes to casino regularly. Just weeks ago, hubby and I went to a casino with him. For the first time, I spent so many hours in a casino and for a while, I felt so bored. We were there for more than 5 hours. Oh, how I missed my bed, my pillow, I missed my laptop, I missed cooking nice meals and I missed the fresh air from my back garden. I should have introduced him to www.888.com. He can easily play his favourite casino games at the comfort of his own home. It has got all his favourites, from Blackjack and Roulette to Poker and Millionare Genie.

Nightmare

That was a nightmare. It felt so real. It was scary. It was something I hate. Something not in 100 years i want it to happen. I was crying so hard in the dream and then I woke up. When I woke up, it took me few minutes to realise that it was just a dream. I kept thinking about it for awhile to make sure it was not a reality. Then I decided to wake L and tell him about it because my mom once told me that a dream will not become true if I tell someone about it.

One day last week, I saw that L looked so tired, so exhausted and so 'chan', so i asked him. Apparently, he had been doing 'something' the night before when i was asleep. He spent more than two hours to do this.

To draw a map for me !!

A day before, I was telling him that I want to go to chinatown during my shift break. Well, we do go to chinatown every weekend but i m always lost without L. I just cant recognise the roads and all the directions. I can never go on my own. So, L drew me a map. He said he woke up at 5am and suddenly remember a street he missed out and spent another hour to re-draw the map. Oh, so sweet. It makes me love L even more !!

I am an idiot when it comes to directions. I cant remember roads and ways eventhough I use it so often. Just few weeks before, I was late to work because I used the tube instead of bus. Usually I take the bus. But on that day, there was a massive traffic jam so I had to use the tube. When I came out from the underground, I was totally lost and cant find my way to work. My workplace is just 5 minutes away but end up, I had to ring L for help. Later that night, kena lecture by him - everyday go to work still can sesat, duh !!!

My first property

Before I came back to UK in 2007, my mom and I bought a flat in Penang (mom shared with me because I couldnt afford to pay everything). We bought it at a bargain price of RM 106k because the owner was in the rush to migrate to Singapore. A neighbour bought one for RM 140k! Mom and I paid half each and the rental received every month was shared. This morning, I've sent some money back to her. I've saved enough money to buy the other half from my mom. I will pay RM70k to my mom and in 4 days time, when mom receives the money, I will be the only owner of the flat. I feel so proud of myself. I am sure friends my age are strugling to save for the deposit and paying for the mortgage every month, but I have no installments or loans to pay off. I only have rents to collect every month and I am loving it !!

Let's see what kind of dishes I tried to prepare for the past 2 months.

1) Sushi rolls.

I had a variety of sushi rolls, from prawn tempura rolls, cucumber rolls, salmon teriyaki rolls to my own creation, new-style egg mayo rolls, hot-dog rolls and chicken tempura rolls.

2) Grilled teriyaki squid

One of my favourite seafood is squid. Especially with lemon.

And being a typical chinese, I have to eat everything with rice.

3) Rump steak

That's for hubby because I dont like red meat. Rump steak with black pepper sauce. Looks nice, eh? Maybe when I get back to Malaysia, I can open a western food stall, no?

4) More sushi rolls

and more....but without pictures.

5) Last but not least, my all-time favourite seafood paella.

It didnt turn out to be good as u can see in the picture. Tastewise was OK. Boleh pass la. My only mistake was to put too much water. Thats why it looked like 'a piece of shit'. Maybe next time, when Ive mastered the way to cook a good paella, I'll do another post.

Life is so unfair to L

L has 2 brothers - one younger one elder, and a father who are in Penang. Both brothers are happily married with their own life and father stays alone with his unmarried elder sister. Now, the father is facing some financial problem. The father needs at least RM70k. L and both brothers are responsible for this and to be fair, 3 of them has to share this equally. Am I right?? Yes ?? But the thing is, both brothers have to pay mortgage for their houses and cars every month, with not much saving and nothing left. The only person who can help is L because he works in London and after rate conversion, he earns much more than the 2 brothers. But, L was just renting a hse in London, using public transportation, works long hours, and save very hard for a better future. Meanwhile, both brothers who has no saving are living in a luxury condo, drive to work and enjoying their life in Penang. I am not saying both brothers are bad son. Well, both love their father every bit. They did the normal things as well. Buying a hse and car is what everyone does. And with price increasing everyday, I understand their situation. It is understandable that they dont have enough savings to help. But, I am upset that L has to pay 100% just because he can afford it. And why he can afford it? Because he was saving every single penny for it ! While the 2 brothers who were trying to help but cant because they are broke, live in a luxury condo. Elder brother and wife has 1 flat and 1 RM300k condo !!! "£$%^&**%. They could have at least sell one of the flat. Cant they? It just shows they are taking advantage on L. Am I right or not?

Not the latest movie

Few weeks ago, as L and I was doing our weekly grocery shopping in Sainsbury, we saw this DvD, Lush Caution. Of course, without hestitate we bought it immediately althought it was abit expensive at £14.

As usual, we paid at the check out counter and went home. First thing I wanna do was to watch the movie. But, the DVD casing was alpha protected (whatever it is!).

The check-out staff who was supposed to take off the casing for us didnt do so. Maybe he forgot, or in the rush to finish work or maybe he is new, I dun care. But cilakak him. End up, L had to take out his tools and started to...

And finally, the Dvd was released....

My verdict : To watch an out-dated, less than 20-minutes scene of Tony Leung and 'who's-that-girl's name' having sex does not worth £14 and that much hassles.

I got a pleasant suprise from L last week. Well, he knows I love cherries and nowadays the cherries are so expensive. £3 - £5 per pound which is a small packet of cherries. Being a very stingy me, I always walk past the fruit stalls without buying any eventhough L insisted. Last Monday, L went out for lunch with a friend who came all the way from Kent to visit him. There is this place in Soho they went, where there were lots of fruit stalls selling cheap and fresh fruits. Of course, L bought 'some' cherries for me. Let see how much he bought.

This is a late post. Last Wednesday, I was working as usual and I knew there is a reservation for a table of 10 people. When they finally arrived at 8pm, it was a bunch of Malays. I started to look at everyone as they might be some Datuks from Malaysia. Then I saw our former PM, Dr. Mahathir. He was sitting with 2 other guys in 1 table. And there was another long table for their people as well. About 10 of them. And there was 1 more table for their 4 drivers. IMO, Dr. Mahathir looks good for his age. His face looks healthy but his movement was very very slow and seems very tired. This is sad because I love him. My mom used to tell me that before he became a PM, he gave free medical consultation to the poor in his hometown, Alor Setar. My late grandma and her children (my mom, aunts and uncle) were his patient. And mom told me both my late grandma and Dr. Mahathir knew each other very well. And our Dear PM is a very nice person and very humble. Well, I can see that. On that night, he had some miso soup, sushi + sashimi and beef teppanyaki. He was very humble and nice.

I will be my own boss

I hate to go to work, especially when I have to do morning shift. To wake up so early in the morning and then get stuck in heavy traffic is not something I want for 5 days a week. Moreover, my manager is a very difficult person to work with. I work in a very busy restaurant and every night I come home feeling very exhausted. I've always wanted to set up my own business. It is good to be my own boss so there will be no difficult person to work with and it's flexible. However, to set up a business I believe I will need a huge amount of money as capital. Maybe, as a starter I can try shopping cart software. The monthly fee is as little as $49.95 a month, which is very reasonable. Moreover, I can have a free trial for up to 10 days. I can also use my shopping cart to sell downloadable goods such as software and games. With so many advantages, I will sign up ecommerce software today.

Snow in Spring

OMG, it was snowing last Sunday. Now is spring in April and gonna be summer in, like 2 months time and we had snow !! Well, L and I was planning to wake up early on Sunday morning to watch celebrities carry the Olympic torch. But when we got up, it was freezing cold. We decided to stay at home instead and had a nice hot bowl of chicken congee for breakfast.

Early retirement

Both hubby and I love to travel. We make it a point to have holiday at least 2 times a year. Last week, we've just got back from a 1-week holiday in Malaga and now I am thinking of my next holiday already. I just couldn't wait any longer. I really hope to earn as much as possible now and both hubby and I can have an early retirement. By then, we can go to wherever we wish. As a waitress, I don't earn a lot. Sometimes, I do get good tips from rich customers but not very often. Moreover, I am not able to get a part-time job because my schedule has to be flexible for my first job. Fortunately, I found Smorty. Smorty allows advertisers to advertise on blogs and I blog for money. I can earn extra income and blog at any time I wish. The 3 waits

While on holiday in Spain, I was basically doing nothing but eat sleep eat sleep. That's what we call the '3 Waits' or 'san tenn' in Mandarin. '3 Waits' means Wait to eat, Wait to sh*t and Wait to sleep. The phrase sounds better when you traslate them to Hokkien. Tan chiak, tan pang, tan kun. And if I am rich, I will tan shopping as well.

I was so lazy for the whole week holiday, even eating pistachio also insist hubby to take off the shell for me. L asked me 'You want me to put them in your mouth as well !!?'. Oh, yes please. Thats even better. So, I'll just need to open my mouth and eat. :)

Bloody driver

L and I took a taxi to a crocodile farm in Malaga. The first trip was 19Euros from our hotel to the park. The fare was based on a fare chart found in the taxi. When we finished, we got into another taxi without asking for the price first, assuming all drivers use the fare chart. We were wrong. This driver, he stopped to pick up his young daughter from her school while we were still in his taxi. And then he drove to his flat to drop his daughter. He was explaining to us that he tried to call his wife but nobody picked up the phone. He was speaking to us in Spanish but we agak-agak know what he tried to say. We were left alone in his taxi while he took his daughter back to the flat for more than 5 minutes, which gave me enough time to snap some photos.

Finally, when we reached our hotel, the driver said 25Euros. And we tried to explain in English that the fare should be only 19. But he speaks very limited English. So, we started to argue a bit in 2 different languages. Like chicken and duck talking. Finally he took the fare chart out and it was 20Euros. We paid. Cilaka punya driver !

On the first night, we bought a big bottle of water from a local shop for 2.75Euros. Two days later, we went to the same shop and bought the same brand at different price. Yes, different price ! Because it was different cashier on the counter !! This time, we paid 1.80Euros. That is 1Euro different. 1Euro is 5 Ringgit man. 2 days later, we decided not to go to the shop anymore. We went to a local supermarket and they have a bigger bottle of water at only o.87Euros....ishhhh, geram-nya !!!!

Hubby and I was in Costa Del Sol in Malaga for 1 week and it was so relaxing and fun. I love beach and lots of sun. Although I grew up in a hot tropical country in Malaysia, I still prefer sunshine and not snow. I believe many Malaysian would choose to be in colder country but definitely not me. Costa Del Sol is an ideal place for retirement but it is a bit too far from Malaysia. My choice would be Pulau Langkawi if not Tanjong Bungah in Penang.

One hell of seafood

For 1 whole week in Spain, hubby and I had only seafood, seafood and more seafood. Our holiday package includes breakfast and dinner buffet in the hotel restaurant. I've always struggled with my weight. I gain weight very easily. It takes me 3 weeks to lose 3kg but it takes me 3 days to gain 3kg. Even though I've lost some weight now but I am still struggling. I have to watch what I am eating all the time and me, being a food lover is having a hard time to resist my favourite food. I would like to try lap-band ventura . But first I need to save enough money for that. Maybe I can postpone my holiday plans and go for the lap-band first.

I got £125 tips from a table this lunch. This is my first time to get so much tips. It was a table of an old couple and their young daughter. Maybe they are Russians and they are very nice people. They paid cash. When they paid me, I quickly keep the £100 and then gave the rest to manager for the change. So, I think nobody knows that I got the £100. What they saw was only £25 change (heheh). So, I don't have to share alot with my commis. Finally I only gave my 2 commis £5 each...hehehe. I know tips are part of their wages too but I don't feel bad because they were not even doing a good job. So, I don't think the commis deserved more than £5 each.

New year's dinner

This is a late post. On 1st January, L and I went to Colindale Oriental Supermarket for some Japanese food. After that, I was planning to have steamboat for dinner and wanted to buy all the required stuffs. But L said that he already accepted his friend's invitation to have dinner with his family. Hmm...I was quiet dissapointed because I was in the mood for steamboat. But its OK. I was expecting some very nice food because L was telling me it will be a 'grand home-cook dinner'. You see, L's friend is from China. And their so-called 'grand dinner' includes stir fry spicy dried beancurds, steam pork dumplings, stir fry dried squids, stir fry vege (something very similar to coriander. I hate i hate!), spicy whelks and soy sauce trotters (no meat at all, all skin only). Again I was dissapointed and to be honest, I was shocked. I do not know if I should feel pity at them. This is their 'grand dinner' for New Year. The only thing I ate on that night was dunplings. In my family back in Penang, when we say grand home-cook dinner, it is going to have fish, prawn, sometimes crab, chicken, pork and vege (usually brocolli, cauliflower and mushroom). I don't know about other families, but this is mine.

As I've mentioned in my previous post, time really flies. I felt like yesterday when I was back to Penang. Nov 2006, I went back to Penang, got a job, got married and came back to UK - all in 1 year. I celebrated New Year 2007 without L.

Nov 2006 - Busy hunting for job. After few interviews 3 weeks later, I received 2 job offers. One in Prai and another one in Bayan Lepas. Of course, I chose the one in Bayan Lepas.

Dec 2006 - April 2007. I worked as an engineer in MNC in Pg and was so lucky to have a very nice supervisor, T. Learnt so much from him and met many leng cai (not sure abt leng lui cos never bother to notice them). Unfortunely, I decided to quit the job and got ready to go back to UK. I was very sad because after few months, I've started to like the job and got along with my collegues and everything.

April 2007 - May 2007. L came back to Penang. Spent so much precious time with his family and my family and I would say one of the best time I had in 2007. L and I went for 2-weeks holiday around Malaysia. We went to Langkawi, Pulau Redang, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and of course KL. We had our marriage registration and I applied for UK visa.

May 2007 - Dec 2007. Reached UK and miss home most of the time.

L works outstation today. He will be home in an hour time. Initially, we were planning to see fireworks at Waterloo London Eye. But every year, it is 'mountain people mountain sea'. So, we decide to stay at home and watch it over the TV instead. After fireworks, can ML somemore. So convinience....heheheh

After that he told me that he actually forgot my birthday and remember at the very last minute and quickly picked one on the same day. Cis...

Estee Lauder - this one is abit too strong for everyday use. But suitable for dinner or a night's out, IMO. L bought this for me last year (2006) after he found out that the barman in my workplace tried to date me many times (heheh...actually few times only, but with hubby need to kua cheong abit ma)

Few weeks later, he bought this - DKNY Delicious. This is my all-time favourite. He bought this for me when he realised that the barman is trying to challenge him already. He got a competitor liao...hehehe

Hugo Boss - I love this one as well. L bought this before I came back to Penang last year (2006). But I seldom use this because I tried to finish up Clinique Happy first.

This one smells nice too. It was a gift from a friend many many years ago. No brand one.

Issey Miyake - L bought this before we boarded Eurostar train to Paris 2 years ago (2005). Gosh..need to quickly finish up this as well.

And last but not least, L's favourite Issey Miyake. I bought one for him last year at Changi Airport but I didnt tell him. After that he bought one for himself. So he got 2bottles. CK in the pic is an old empty bottle.

I really love perfumes and I keep all the bottles as well. I have a few more at home in Penang. Some are still unfinised (waste of money nia). That's y L and I stopped buying since last year. Gotta finish up all the current ones first.

Situation1
L and I went for grocery shopping few weeks ago in a chinese supermarket. As usual L started to pick all stuffs that are 'so-expensive-in-uk-but-oh-so-cheap-in-malaysia', like dried shrimp, ikan bilis and 'kiam pia'. Everytime I see this, I will start to complain. But not this time. I just kept quiet because I thought ok, once awhile is fine. Then when we were q-ing to pay, L took those stuffs and put back on the shelves. Then he said "beh siok one, u didnt scold me also. I put back." ??!!??

Situation2
Whenever L comes back from outstation it will be way past midnight. As soon as he is back, he will sit and join me to watch TV instead of going to shower and change straight away. So, everytime I will nag. Last night, as usual he came back at half past midnight and sat down to watch TV. I didnt say anything because I was busy checking my email. After awhile, L said "Ceh, beh siok one. I was waiting for my wife to scold me ma. This time she just tiam-tiam nia eh." ??!!!??

New Year resolutions

I rented a room in England and my landlord was a family from China, not very old couple, around 40 years old. My then-bf-now-husband L came to visit me quiet often. When he came, I was pampered like a Queen (heheh..). Sometimes, L will prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and he will do the washing and cleaning as well. And one day.....

Stupid chinese man : Aiya, why you so scare of ur gf one?
L : huh?
SCM : Why you have to do all the houseworks. Women should do that.
L : No, in today's world we don't differentiate what women and men should do anymore. Everyone is at the same level. In Malaysia, it is very common for men to help with houseworks.
SCM : No way. Men should never do the houseworks.

When they reached the destination, the driver wanted to release the slide from the back door for them automatically. However, the back door was in a position just next to a lamp post and so the slide was blocked. But the female driver was not aware of this. Then the man started to shout from the door "Stupid cow, move forward. Woman shouldnt be driving a bus. It should be a man driving a bus. Woman cant drive a bus. Stupid woman." Stupid man I say. Xmas BBQ

L and I had BBQ and steamboat in a friend's house for Christmas. It was in Southampton, which is very near to Winchester. So, the friend came to fetch us on Christmas morning. It felt so nice to spend Chritsmas with him and his family. They are the closest people L and I have in England since we have no family members here. We hope to spend CNY as well with them if the schedule is alright. I didnt snap any pic during BBQ and steamboat. There were other 'friends'(strangers to me) as well. So, paisei la. Anyway, everyone gave compliments that I lost alot of weight. So happy to hear that....Hopefully, when we meet next year CNY, I will hear the same thing again.

3 men under a roof

As I mentioned in my previous posts, L works oustation most of the time. Usually he will spend 3-4 months in a place and his company will provide accomodation for him. This time he is in Winchester. I went to visit him on Christmas's eve. The house he is staying in is good. However, he shares with 2 male collegues. So, the house is not very tidy. We can't expect too much from 3 men, can we?

My grandpa

Mom is updating me with ah kong's situation everyday. He is getting weaker and weaker everyday. I feel so guilty that I cant be there with him and everyone else. He insisted to go home because he said he want to 'go' at home and not in hospital. But he is too weak to leave the hospital. I want to recall some memories I had with my ah kong.

1. When I was abt 9 years old, every Sunday my father and I will visit ah kong in Penang. We were staying in Butterworth then. Mom worked on Sunday (Kedah state) and dad had Sunday off. So, we will take bus and ferry (because 9-yr old girl loves bus and ferry). When we reached there, ah kong will ask million of times abt the transportation we took. Everytime I will say we walk, then bus, then ferry then bus, then walk again. But ah kong will ask and ask and ask and ask......the same question again and again.

2. When I was in primary school, I was given less than RM1 everyday to school. Mom's reason was 'little girl doesnt need so much money'. But everytime ah kong comes to visit during the weekday, I got very excited because he will give me few ringgits.

3. My ah kong always tell my father to stop smoking. But he, himself smokes a lot.

4. My ah kong loves McD and nasi kandar.

5. My ah kong loves my elder and younger brother more than me. When my brothers were young, ah kong always bring elder brother for nasi lemak and younger brother for McD. But he never bring me out for makan.

Ah kong is a very very old man now and I know the time will come one day. All I hope is he has no suffering. God pls bless ah kong.

Bad news from Pg

I received an email from mom. Her first sentence was ' I have bad news...'. Oh God, as usual all sort of things started to flash in my mind. My grandpa was hospitalised because of brain stroke and he also has cancer which is spreading. To be honest, I actually feel relieved that the bad news is abt my ah kong and not someone else that I love so much. I feel so bad to think this way. But my ah kong and I was not very close. I m sure he loves me but it was very obvious he loves my brothers more than me because I am a girl. Well, ah kong is very very old already and last year alone, he was in and out the hospital so many times. At a time, he was so sick that doctor told us he had only 3 months to go. But he survived and doctor said it was miracle. After that he was as strong as b4 and stronger that anyone his age. With asthma, he even managed to walk 30minutes to his gf's hse. Yes, he has a gf ! Anyway, we are prepared for the worst case.

Nowadays when I receive emails from my mum, I get worried. I always has negative things in my mind, like something bad happened and that's why she sent me an email. I dun know why. Staff Xmas party

The restaurant I am working in organised a christmas party for tomorrow night. And we are doing secret santa as well. All staffs will need to pick a name from a box and then he/she will buy a present for the name he/she picked. So, everyone will definitely get one present without knowing who bought the present. I've bought one. It is for the kitchen supervisor. A black French guy.

It is Ferrero Rocher. Hehehe. I know it is lousy but I am not bothered. I bought it because there was a promotion. Buy 2 for £8. It is cheap. So, 1 box as the gift and 1 box for myself. Why? Because I love Ferero Roucher !

I want to have holiday now

I just couldn't bear to work for 1 more day. I don't like the organization there because all the managers are so inexperienced. I just hate to go to work now. I think I am going to resign before I get a new job offer. And after that I can start to make Hotel Reservations. There are so many places I want to visit. From Ireland to Portugal, Spain and Turkey. It's great when I can get an attractive deal when I book through the internet, weather it is just a hotel or resort. It is the end of the year where I just don't feel like working. All I want to do is travel and holiday.

I've just reached home at 2am after a long tired hard work. I had one table of 10 people. The host is the owner of the biggest art gallery in Mayfair.
