Memories from the past

4 Heavenly Kings in the 90's. I grew up listening to their songs (except for Leon). I love Jacky for his great voice and sense of humour, I love Andy for no reason, I love Aaron for his good look and dancing skills. But I was not a fan of Leon, not even once. He was so boring (I'm sorry).

Beyond make great music in the early 90's.

My favourite boyband, BSB.

Another favourite of mine, a very special Spice Girls.

Boyzone. I was so in 'love' with Ronan Keating.
Michael Learns to Rock. I can sing all of their lovely romantic songs (Well, almost !!). I was so addicted to them during my high school time.

Back to the Future Trilogy. A great movie with good comedy and ability to incorporate complex theories of time-travel without confusing me. I love the story.

Pretty Woman. My all-time favourite. I was so influenced by this movie that I always imagine that I am Julia Roberts' character (except for being a hooker).

The Sound of Music. Another favourite of mine. I never get bored watching this again and again.

Do these bring back good memories to u? If yes, most probably u were born in the 80's and grew up in the 90's, like me?

Do u love ur body?

Unfortunely, my answer is a big NO. I've always struggled with my weight since teenager. I was chubby and I missed having the chance to wear mini-clothes like any other teenagers. It did no good to my confidence, especially I grew up with a bunch of slim schoolmates that look like this.

But now I am older, I prefer curvy figure like Drew Barrymore

and Kate Winslet

and Bernice Liu

rather than a size 0 Keira Knightley

and Victoria Beckham
At 49kgs, I believe i have a healthy figure but I am still so much obssesed with my weight. After every meal, I feel so guilty, as if i was going to gain 5kgs. it makes me think that every plate of rice gonna make me look like this.

What abt u? Do u want to look like this

or like this?

Changes...

Now the restaurant is not making good money, they came out with a full list of ways to reduce cost.

1. No more staff drinks. Previously, all staffs can 'go in go out' from the bar anytime to get soft drinks (mineral water, fizzy drinks and fruit juice) for themselves. But now no more, not even mineral water ! Die or not like this? So i have to bring my own water everyday.

2. Reduce staffs working hours. Usually, staffs get 7 shifts a week. Now, some staffs only get 4 shifts which is very bad for the staffs because the less hour u do, the less money u get. So, 4 shifts is less than 20 hours a week. It is not good money. But lucky, i so smart get a part time job dee...heheh. When a staff get a part time job, the management is not happy because the staff is not flexible anymore. But it is ridiculous for them to expect me to earn only 20hours money a week. So, i dont bloody care if they happy or not.

3. They are changing their food and drink menu. Well, this is ok unless they change the prices too. The current price is way too expensive. A small glass of wine is £9 - my previous job, a glass of wine is £4.50 only (drink gold meh?), 6 thin slices of wagyu beef with a tiny portion of mushrooms is £40 - IMO, it should be only £20 (again, eat gold meh?). BTW, 95% of the comments/feedbacks from customers is the over-priced food and drinks. So, the company should consider this point.

A dead Friday

I have more than 2 years experience in restaurant. Friday night is always the busiest shift of the week. But yesterday was a total dead. I guess everyone goes back to hometown because we have a long weekend holiday. Next Monday is a bank holiday (public holiday). Last night from 6pm - 8pm, the restaurant was empty. Then customers started to come in after 8pm. Whole night, we did 38 covers only, compare to the usual 100 covers on Friday night. Obviously, the restaurant was losing money last night. I think they dun even make enough money to pay the staffs last night.

Dinner

Hubby came back from Kent after two weeks. He will go back there again tomorrow for another two weeks. Our simple dinner tonight.
A meal for two

Stir fry kailan

Salmon in tao cheow. Not supposed to put salt but i did. Too salty to my liking.

My favourite : Seafood tofu with lots of enoki mushroom soup. I love enoki mushroom.

Today is not my day

Today is my 1st day for a part time job. I work only 2 days a week in a restaurant. Actually, they are reluctant to hire me because i can work 2 days only. But because hubby has a high position in this company, so the restaurant manager gives face lo...

At 10.20am, i hopped in the bus (need to take bus to tube station), but shit i couldnt find my oyster card (prepaid card), so no choice but to pay the full amount (2kali ganda) in cash. I left my oyster card at home, and i had only £3 in my bag because earlier hubby told me, waitress will not be given a locker so he advised me not to bring my mobile, money and credit card (got thief one). Great, now i have no money, no mobile, I have nothing. I cant go to work. So, i quickly rang my hubby using the public phone and asked him to bring my oyster card to me and i will wait at Kilburn station (about 15minutes away from our hse).

11am, hubby still not here. Bayang pun tak nampak lagi. So i waited 15 more minutes. 11.15am, still tadak. ok, i m going to be late on my 1st day. Tried to call hubby's mobile but nobody pick up the phone. Damn, he must have left the mobile at home again (always like dat one). Since I have no more money to take the bus, i have to walk home. By the time i reached home, it was already 11.35am, so i definitely late liao, so i called back to restaurant. But i need a better excuse. I cant tell them i got stucked in a tube station with no mobile and no money. This is a lame excuse. So finally i came out with an even worse reason. I told them, I had to go back to my full time job today and i kept on saying sorry.

Finally, 12pm hubby came back. He was waiting at Kilburn Park station instead of Kilburn station. Stupiak or not !!

The 7th month

I read the news of the bus accident in Taiping, which killed 20 ppl. It happened in the early Monday morning and it was the 1st day of chinese 7th month. It also happened at 4.40am. The number 4 has the same pronounation as dead in chinese language.

I dont usually aware of the 7th month since i came to uk 2 years ago because i dun have a chinese calendar here. Until I read abt the hungry ghost post in 5xmom's blog last night. And the next day (this morning) i saw the accident news. So, does anyone believe now that there are more accidents happen at the 7th month? And the first accident for this year 7th month happened 4 hours after midnight. 'Ho cheh arr' (Cantonese), right?
